Hideo
Kojima is a famous Japanese game designer, who excelled in creating and
directing the Metal Gear Solid game series. This veteran is known for his high
creative abilities, which he demonstrated in many of his games that have become
popular worldwide.
Kojima
is one of the designers who constantly come up with new ideas that are
difficult for other developers to imagine, and he is characterized by his
outstanding ability to predict the future of gaming and its trends. For
example, in 1998, he released the famous espionage game Metal Gear Solid, which
introduced many new and innovative ideas in the world of games, such as the use
of cameras, cinematic scenes, and realistic graphics that give the game a
serious appearance and make the player feel like they are watching a Hollywood
movie.
In fact, the world around us is constantly and rapidly evolving in a scary way, but we may not feel this development at the same speed that it is happening. There are many factors that affect our perception of the changes and developments that are happening in the world around us, and technology and its rapid development lead to enormous changes in various fields around the world.
Video
games and their ability to predict the future of humanity Video games have
evolved and become capable of covering the predictions and problems that
humanity is experiencing in the age of information. We have seen this in games
like MGS: Ground Zeroes and Guantanamo Bay, as well as the global conflict that
will never end in MGS V. We also witnessed in many conversations and
discussions of issues between Metal Gear characters many predictions that have
already come true.
In
the game Death Stranding, for example, which Kojima released in 2019, it was
able to present a new and innovative idea that revolves around emotionally
connecting players or "humans" with the game's characters through
sharing cargo and building real friendships. The game also presented a unique
gaming experience that includes travel, exploration, and resource management.
Overall, it can be said that Hideo Kojima is always innovating and evolving in the field of game design, and his creative ideas and predictions have been influential in shaping the gaming industry as we know it today.
Kojima's deep thinking and continuous exploration of
the intersection between science fiction and real-life events and conflicts in
his games, particularly in the Metal Gear series, is one reason why he is
considered a visionary. Although he has not spoken much about the games he has
worked on since leaving Konami, he recently opened up about his memories and experiences,
as seen in one of his recent tweets:
"Metal Gear Solid 4 depicts a future where wars
are fought by proxy, with unmanned weapons and private military companies
dominating the economy of war. It's a future where armies and political parties
no longer fight, but are instead represented by unmanned aircraft, agents, and
corporations. Those who sell or lease weapons will provide unified operation
procedures to gain full control of the battlefield. The concept of 'illicit
arms trading' will also emerge, allowing parties to evade unified operation procedures.
By suppressing unified operation procedures, control over the battlefield can
be achieved."
In Metal Gear Solid 4, we saw Solid Snake embroiled in
a civil war between private military companies (PMCs). The subtitle of the
game, "Guns of the Patriots," refers to one of its key features: the
weapon trader Drebin. This is because the protagonist is unable to use the guns
he obtains from enemy soldiers due to encryption, but Drebin can replace the
identification chips to make them usable.
We also remember how Kojima revealed that he had
written the story for Death Stranding 2 before the Covid-19 pandemic hit, but
he ended up rewriting it after experiencing the chaos caused by the global
outbreak. In one of his statements, he said:
MGS4 depicts the next generation of proxy wars and war economies waged by unmanned weapons and PMCs. A future where parties do not fight, but are represented by drones, proxy soldiers and corporations. In this future, those who sell or rent weapons introduce SOPs to take full…

"I wrote the story for Part 2 before the
pandemic, but after experiencing it, I rewrote everything from scratch. I
didn't want to predict any more of the future, so I rewrote it."
As our readers, do you remember any video game
predictions that have become a reality?
