Developer Piranha Games has a new, standalone MechWarrior game in development. Russ Bullock, president of the studio, opened up about the previously unknown project on a podcast.
Appearing on No Guts No Galaxy (via Video Games Chronicle), Bullock brought up the next game in the MechWarrior franchise. "Everyone knows we have DLC 4 coming out for MechWarrior 5, and there is another MechWarrior game in development at Piranha."
Piranha Games has been the team behind the past two titles in the BattleTech franchise, MechWarrior Online and MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries. Bullock explained that this new project is a single-player experience. "It's not MechWarrior Online 2, it’s not the successor to MechWarrior Online, it's not an online PvP [game]," he said. "Think of it more in line with MechWarrior 5, but a standalone game, a standalone product."
Now Bullock added that an official reveal of this new MechWarrior isn't coming anytime soon. He said the announcement may arrive as late as this fall, specifically mentioning September. Piranha is planning for the game to release "on all the platforms, PC and console," according to Bullock.
As for the nearer term, the Rise of Rasalhague DLC will launch January 26 for MechWarrior 5.
